A staple of Northwestern skiing and riding since 1937, 49 Degrees North offers a wonderful combination of family oriented programs and terrain with the largest lift accessible acreage in the State of Washington. They are also continually improving the area for their guests in subtle ways that make big differences. One of the best parts of going to 49 Degrees North has to be the breathtaking views from the summit of Chewelah Peak, well, that and the well groomed runs, dry powder and numerous glades. Terrain Now providing over 2,300 acres and 68 marked trails, 49 Degrees North offers terrain to suit all abilities; 30% of the terrain is designated for beginners, 40% for intermediates and 30% for advanced/expert skiers and riders. With a longest run of 2.5 miles (Dutchman) 1,850 vertical feet wrapped in the 300" annual snowfall and the spectacular views of the Pend Oreille River Valley and the Kettle Range to the Northeast, 49 Degrees North offers the complete vacation experience. With impressive new development, 49 Degrees North is now offering more for everyone. Among the additions are the new Sunrise fixed quad, 20 new trails in Sunrise Basin and Lower Silver Ridge, ten kilometers of new Nordic trails and new terrain park features, all in addition to the 500 acres of terrain opened in East Basin in 2005 and the existing 4 double chairs and one surface lift. Off-Slope Fun Known as a superb family resort, 49 Degrees North also offers enticing convenience to the Spokane area and attractions such as the Spokane Children's Museum, the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture and the INB Performing Arts Center. From Spokane, 49 Degrees North is due north on interstate 395 with the access to the Resort greatly improved through the recently completed $40 million Flowery Trail Road renovation. Once there, families will find affordable lift tickets, free mid week child care and Friday night group lessons for teenagers - with no parents allowed - as well as a number of reasonable housing choices, links to which are provided through the resort's web site. Also available is the somewhat unique option of first come - first served RV camping at the resort. Plentiful snow, expanded terrain and something for every need, 49 Degrees North is a place Northwestern skiers and riders of all ages can call home.
